Joann's School of Dance
Joann’s School of Dance (JSD) was established in 1985 under Director Joann Schoenig. During the course of their 34-year history, hundreds of students have experienced the passion and dedication Miss Joann puts into her teaching. Their professional instructors instill personal confidence, self–esteem, and technique, and help each student reach their highest potential in the art of dance.
Miss Joann Schoenig has been dancing since the age of three and teaching for over 34 years, she is Directing, Owning, Teaching, and Choreographing for her dance studio which was her dream as a little girl. Joann has now grown into her passion. Hundreds of students have graced the stage at JSD'S recitals and have experienced the passion and dedication Miss Joann puts into her teaching.
Miss Joann is a certified member of Dance Educators of America, National Association of Dance Teachers, Professional Dance Teachers Association, Arts Council Co-Op, The American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers, SeSac and BMI and partners with CLI Studios.
JSD has a class for the student who just wants to take class once a week for fun and exercise - or - for the more serious dancer. Joann's School of Dance is an exciting dance studio experience in Elizabeth, N.J. JSD has been celebrating the love of dance since 1985.
They have an annual recital in June as well as local performances and workshops including The Pulse with choreographers from "So You Think You Can Dance", The Rockette Experience at Radio City Music Hall, the Boscov Thanksgiving Day Parade, Fright Fest at Six Flags Great Adventure and The Nets Basketball City Dancers.
Joann's School of Dance also has a Nationally Ranked Dance Team. Their team recently won the Rising Star National Dance Championship along with over sixty placements and special awards. The team at JSD has recently come back to the studio with 58 awards from their Nationals dance competition. The dance studio provides dance classes from Ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, pointe, Hip Hop, and acrobatics. At JSD, they believe that every child brings something unique to their studio. The JSD staff instills personal confidence, self-esteem, and technique, as well as also helping each student reach their highest potential in the art of dance.
The JSD philosophy is "Never say I can’t, always say I’ll try". They want the students to leave every class feeling good about themselves and knowing that they have gained a sense of confidence that they can take with them through life in whatever career they choose to pursue.
JSD has a class for the student who just wants to take a class once a week for fun and exercise - or - for the more serious dancer, private lessons as well. JSD has even have attended the Dizzy Feet Dance Video Contest Winners.

Joann's School of Dance classes are 1 hour and Private/ Semi/Trio lessons are a half-hour. Their program session program runs consecutively from September through June. JSD is the only dance studio who offers multiple and sibling class discounts. JSD's current news and vents throughout the pandemic are that they are hoping to have their annual recital with their rehearsal on June 26th and their recital June 27th. They have started virtual Zoomclasses since March 23rd.​
